What Items are Suitable for Skips?
Because 1st Class Disposal Ltd trusts customers and clients to use their initiative when loading skips, there are none of the lengthy explanations you might find with another skip hire company. All we advise is that you only put inert and non-hazardous waste into our skips, and that you use the items we list below as a guide. Typically, skips can accept most household and garden waste, or surplus materials from construction projects in the South East area.
Acceptable items include:
Waste collected from Crawley, Dorking, East Grinstead, Redhill, Reigate and the surrounding areas is screened, processed and, wherever possible, put forward for recycling. We minimise landfill use by working with our partners to achieve recycling rates exceeding the 90% target set by the government.
Skip hire won’t be suitable for everybody, especially those without the space to have skips kept on their property or site. In other situations, it might not be possible to obtain a permit that allows a skip to be left on the roadside. We can offer you a wait-and-load service where our own friendly personnel assist you with loading waste, usually onto a fleet vehicle, so the collection doesn’t impact the property or site, the public, and those using nearby roads.
You can also have specialist rubbish removal undertaken for any items we can’t accept in a skip, but which we can still dispose of for you.
A wait-and-load service might be a better choice if your property or site is situated in an area with narrow road access. Our skip hire company will evaluate your needs, lend you our professional advice and come up with a working solution that takes the stress out of having to dispose of waste.
When you contact us to discuss skip hire, we’ll need to know where you want your ordered skips dropped off. If space is at a premium and you want us to leave units on the roadside, you will need prior approval in the form of a permit from your local authority. We will liaise with departments in Crawley, Dorking, East Grinstead, Redhill, Reigate and the surrounding areas for you, apply for the required permit, and we’ll even complete the paperwork.
Please note that permits are not included in our prices for skip hire, and that you will need to make payment to your local authority directly.
There are restricted items that we cannot allow in our skips:
We may be able to assist with the removal of plasterboard and tyres, and our skip hire company can usually remove mattresses for a small cost.

We can only accept paint pots which are dry and empty.
